The Fallen Leaves
About
One of the most perplexing cases Inspector Peter Graveney has worked on. A car is dredged from the bottom of a deep pond after twenty years. The grisly remains of two bodies locked inside. Why is Graveney certain that this discovery is linked to a dubious businessman and the murders of the men working for him? And why does a young woman’s name keep surfacing within the investigation after her release from prison for murder? As Graveney digs deeper, he finds more missing pieces to the puzzle and is faced with his biggest struggle yet – his own mind. As the body count escalates, Graveney battles with his own demons and in his desperation to solve the case, he allows himself to be guided by an unlikely source from his past. A gruesome and provocative sequel to the author’s first novel, ‘The Hanging Tree’. The Fallen Leaves takes the reader on a breath-taking journey, from the graphic opening chapter to the emotionally charged denouement. If you bury the past, bury it deep.
The story has been re-edited and revised in 2024 to reflect the author’s continued progress as a writer.
Praise for this book
This is the second book of John’s I have read, this is another exciting story. I really enjoyed it, couldn’t put it down and when I finished it I wanted the next book. I’m hoping there’s more coming in the series.
Brilliant gripping storyline and the characters are so interesting.
Loved the follow up to the hanging tree, 100% a page turner
Follow up to the excellent The Hanging Tree. Pacy thriller with some excellent characterisation. Highly recommended.
A flawed hero and villains hiding in plain sight, this dark thriller is a real page turner. I loved the fact that it brings back characters from the prequel, The Hanging Tree, but this novel stands alone and kept me guessing until the very end. Highly recommended.
